King's Park Academy

Computing

At King’s Park Academy, Computing is a key part of preparing pupils for a digital world. Using our computer suite, laptops, tablets, and VR headsets, children develop essential digital skills through engaging, hands-on experiences.

We follow a full scheme of work authored by primary computing specialists, using free, accessible software. The curriculum is mapped to the Education for a Connected World framework and the DfE’s Teaching Online Safety in Schools guidance. Teacher and pupil videos support confident and consistent delivery across all year groups.

Key Learning Areas:

  • Digital literacy – Using technology confidently and responsibly
  • Online safety – Understanding how to stay safe and respectful online
  • Computational thinking – Developing logic, reasoning, and problem-solving
  • Coding – Creating and debugging programs using block and text-based languages
  • Computers and hardware – Gaining hands-on experience with a range of digital tools
  • Cross-curricular application – Applying computing skills in subjects like Maths, Science, and Art
